Canon sd780is – Small Size – Powerfull Punch by Chris Porter
This is my report for the Canon sd780is.
I already own an SLR, couple of point and shoot cameras, a flip and a Video Cam. So, photography is not new to me. I ordered this because I wanted a portable camera to carry around when I can’t take SLR.
This Canon sd780is fits the bill perfectly. It starts up very fast (better than any point and shoot camera I’ve seen till date). Photos in low light are a bit noisy. Sometimes it has problems focusing but mostly image quality is good. Photos taken with maximum zoom are heavily distorted. Photos without any zoom are stunning.
If you can afford an SLR (like Nikon D3000 etc), go for that. If you need a portable/pocket-able camera, get this one. You won’t be disappointed.
The stills from this Canon sd780is camera, with adequate lighting, are quite good. Unfortunately, image quality quickly deteriorates in low light conditions, due in part to the small size of the image sensor and the high effect megapixel rating.
Shooting video is a breeze, and although it is disappointing that users cannot change focus or zoom levels once recording has begun, the compressed video looks very good on any High Resolution screen. To prove that they are serious about the video quality of this camera, Canon even included an HDMI mini connector for a direct connection to any new High Definition television.
Overall the Canon sd780is is a very good camera for the price and should satisfy all but the most demanding users in this category. Canon has consistently improved their digital ELPH series and the SD780 IS is no exception to this trend. This is a Great Camera and I would recommend it to all my friends! I give this 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I just love this Canon sd780is camera. The picture quality is good and with the 16gb disk I have inside I can take tons of pictures or long videos. Since I know this camera so well, when I went to replace the one I dropped in the water (my bad) I chose to purchase the same unit again because I didn’t see the need for a new version at higher cost when this one does such a great job.
It is so portable and people are shocked at the quality of the video’s I am able to take with it. I also love the fact that it will adjust for macro pictures so I can take up close shots. It is small enough to fit in my purse or pocket so it goes with me everywhere. The battery charges quickly on this Canon sd780is and compared to AA batteries lasts much longer.
